8.16.0 Release Notes

Includes new versions of: Transtream Setup (3.7.0), HubCapp Peripheral Agent (2.2.0), HubCapp Data Agent (1.6.0), all Carrier Components and all Apps.

Possible Breaking Changes

What has changed What to do
New Transtream Setup, HubCapp agents, and all Carrier Components updated. New versions available. Due to updates for TLS 1.2 security (TRANS-2148), all carrier components have been updated in this release. We recommend that you update Transtream Setup to the latest version (3.7.0) (on its Help menu, click Check For Updates), update your instances to 8.16.0 and update all Carrier Components to the latest version.

New HubCapp installers are available on the Downloads page for use with 8.16.0.

The possible breaking changes are:

  • The new HubCapp Data Agent and HubCapp Peripheral Agent will not work on Windows XP.
  • The updated USPS Server carrier component will only work with 8.16.0. If you choose to only update an instance's carrier components and not the instance itself, do not update the USPS Server component.
The HubCapp server version has not changed in this release. Version 1.3.0 remains the latest version and must be used with 8.16.0.
Apps. New versions available. If you are using modified Apps, you must replicate your changes in the new version. See App Changes below for a summary of the items that have affected Apps in this release.
Email Templates. Any previously imported from Shipment Server will be overwritten. If you are using a Logistics Server that was set up using the Import Data from Shipment Server command, that import will have imported email templates even though, at the time, they could not be used in Transtream. As part of the implementation of email templates (TRANS-1531), such imported templates will be overwritten with the new templates.
ConnectShip carriers. Improved Delivery Date calculation. If passing a commitment date, use the node: /PierbridgeRateResponse/Rates/Rate/DeliveryIn See TRANS-2031 for more details.

Headline Enhancements

TRANS-1531 - Email notifications and new Broker Notifier and Shipment Notifier tasks. Transtream now includes an email notification and templates capability for the Task Scheduler tasks. Additional tasks have also been introduced: Broker Notifier and Shipment Notifier. See Set up email notifications, and Broker Notifier task and Shipment Notifier task.

This is a possible breaking change for anyone who imported from Shipment Server and requires those imported (but unused) templates. See Possible Breaking Changes above. In the new version of Transtream Setup (3.6.0), the Import Data from Shipment Server command has been updated to correctly import without issue.
TRANS-1528 - Administration App. Import Account, Company and Cost Center codes, and manage and import Product codes. On the Data page:
  • The Billing Codes tab now lets you import Account, Company and Cost Center codes. (The Administration App already let you manage these codes.)
  • A Products tab has been added. Use this to manage and import international or hazardous material product codes.

TRANS-784 - Designer. Tables. Custom width columns. In Properties > Table Columns, each column now has a Width (px) setting that defaults to auto (for equal widths) but can be set to a number of pixels. Previously, any custom widths were implemented in script. The Administration, End Of Day, Warehouse, MailCenter and Desktop Apps have been updated to use this new functionality instead of scripting.
TRANS-2007 - Administration App. Setup My System support for USPS (ERR or normal shipping). Setup My System now includes USPS in the list of carriers that have guided onboarding. This can be for use with ERR or normal shipping.

Note the following:

  • If setting up USPS ERR in Meter mode, the meter must be set up separately. This is because the serial number of a connected meter is not known until it has been tripped. Add meters in HubCapp Peripheral Agent.
  • For normal shipping, note that it does not configure ConnectShip. In Data > All Settings, you still need to manually set Connectship Host Name, Connectship Use SSL and Connectship Server as detailed in USPS Reference
  • If both ERR and normal USPS are configured:
    • The carrier permission of USPS normal must be set as the default carrier permission for USPS. Setup My System does this, but you should ensure/check that it is not subsequently changed.
    • In the Ship App, ensure that the correct account is selected in the Bill To tab.

The addition of support for Setup My System is included in the USPS Server 1.3.0 carrier component made available as part of 8.16.0.
TRANS-2131 - New App. Deliv Same Day App. This licensed App provides a Deliv specific shipping capability. See Deliv Same Day App.

TRANS-1987 - View App. Electronic submission. Improved signature and BPOD handling.
TRANS-1045 - App session expiry. Improved behavior. When a user's App session times out, they are now presented with the login page. This is more helpful to users who, for example, leave their App running overnight triggering an inactivity expiry. Previously, they remained in the App and, on resumption of use, encountered an 'Insufficient permissions to execute' message.
TRANS-1535 - Electronic submission. Added ability to pass specific Account ID with each transaction. Added ability to override a Cost Center's default account for ERR shipments, if a specific Account ID (AccountID node in Ship request) is sent with the transaction.
TRANS-1691 - Desktop App. Improved behavior when default carrier is a freight carrier. If the default carrier is set to a freight carrier, Desktop will now prompt users to change their carrier (Desktop does not support freight). This change is included in the new version of the Desktop App available with 8.16.0.
TRANS-1896 - Internet Explorer. Improved XML data source handling of soft hyphens.
TRANS-1903 - PB Shipping API - USPS. Improved commitment date logic in rate requests. Now uses the carrier's estimated delivery date as the commitment level. Included in new carrier component version.
TRANS-1912 - UPS API. Added ability to print package description on labels. Multipack shipments now generate individual content descriptions (max 35 characters) for each package in a shipment. Previously, the first description was added to all labels. Included in new carrier component version.
TRANS-1913 - Warehouse and MailCenter Apps. Disable SHIP button when rate group selected. Included in the new versions of the Warehouse and MailCenter Apps.
TRANS-2001 - Custom rates. Improved for carriers that do not provide package level rates.
TRANS-2031 - ConnectShip carriers. Improved Delivery Date calculation. If the GuaranteedDaysToDelivery node is returned by ConnectShip, all ConnectShip-based carriers will now return a commitment level in a Rate response's /PierbridgeRateResponse/Rates/Rate/DeliveryIn node. This is a possible breaking change as previously the /PierbridgeRateResponse/DeliveryIn node was used. However, the value it passed did not correctly skip weekend days, so this node is no longer returned and the /PierbridgeRateResponse/Rates/Rate/DeliveryIn node (which correctly calculates the value) should be used instead. Included in new carrier component versions.
TRANS-2051 - PB Shipping API - USPS. Improved Adult Signature support. Specifically:
  • Changed Adult Signature and Restricted Delivery indicator from ADRG to ADSIGRD.
  • Changed Adult Signature indicator from AD to ADSIG.
  • Added support for Adult Signature and Certified.
  • Added support for Adult Signature, Certified and Restricted Delivery.

Included in new carrier component version.
TRANS-2057 - Destination Control Statement on Commercial Invoices updated. This statement has been updated to match the latest US Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
TRANS-2148 - Updates to all product components for Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2. Because of this, there are new versions of all installers, Apps and carrier components. Also note that HubCapp Data Agent and HubCapp Peripheral Agent will no longer work on Windows XP.
