Possible Breaking Changes

What has changed What to do
Transtream Setup no longer supports using Shipment Server as the Compliance Engine. There is a new Transtream Setup (3.23.0). Any customers using Shipment Server as their Compliance Engine wishing to upgrade to 8.28.0 and above must only do so with the assistance of Services or Development.
New App versions available. If you are using modified Apps, you must replicate your changes in the new version. See App Changes below for a summary of the items that have affected Apps in this release.

Headline Enhancements

TRANS-4759 - New App. Desktop Shipping App. The Desktop Shipping App is now available with Transtream, designed as an alternative to the Desktop App's step-by-step workflows. See Desktop Shipping.
TRANS-3368 - Administration App. Added support for custom codes. You can now configure custom codes, an internal Transtream code that, when loaded into a Shipping App, specifies how the transaction is shipped. This includes carrier, service, special service, package, payer and residential detail. In support:
  • Added a new tab, Code Translations, to the Administration App’s Carriers page. See Carriers - Code Translations for detail.
  • Codes are loaded into Shipping Apps using the Custom Carrier Code field in the advanced options dropdown of the Carrier Service Snippet. See Carrier Selection - Custom Codes for detail.
  • A new entity, Custom Code Translations, has been added to Transtream, available for import and export via the Data Management snippet. See Data Management for detail.
TRANS-4661 - Administration App. Carriers. Service type now displayed. Added two new columns indicating service type, Freight and Local, to the Service Detail tab when editing carriers in the Carriers page. Note that the columns are not editable.

Additionally, implemented several changes when configuring custom carriers using the custom carrier wizard:

  • Added a LTL Carrier checkbox when configuring carriers manually and through ConnectShip.
  • Added two columns, Freight and Local, when setting up service detail in the wizard. Note that if the LTL Carrier checkbox is enabled, added services will automatically have the Freight column checked.
TRANS-4544 - Reporting. Reports Editor available for download. A Transtream Reports Editor is now available from the Downloads page. The application, once installed on the local machine, is used to modify outputs and reports downloaded from the Administration App’s Outputs tab. Edited outputs can then be re-uploaded back into the Administration App for use within Transtream. See Administration App - Outputs for detail.
TRANS-4543 - Reports App. Updates to PB Shipping API - USPS reports permissions. Those with the role User can now view PB Shipping API - USPS reports. Previously, access was limited to Admin roles.
TRANS-3813 - Administration App. Email Settings. Update to encryption methods. The setting Email Use SSL has been renamed to Email Use Encryption, and can be configured to True or False. See Email Notifications for detail.

Additionally, any settings with predefined values are now selected using a dropdown, where previously the value had to be manually entered.
TRANS-4664 - Transtream. Added data structure for reporting on App transaction history. Implemented the following in support of internal reporting on transaction App history:
  • Added a new table to the product database, Transaction Source Application, to track transaction type by the App processed.
  • Requests have been modified to include App identifiers, including base name, name and version.

Carrier Changes

TRANS-3951 - FedEx Web Services. FedEx Freight Web Services. Support for ETD image upload. You can now upload letterhead and signature image files to be used on ETD outputs generated by FedEx Web Services and FedEx Freight Web Services. The images are uploaded in the Accounts tab of the Administration App’s Carriers page. See Set up FedEx Web Services and Set up FedEx Freight Web Services for detail.

In support added a new function, Carrier Image Upload, for both carriers. See the relevant carrier attribute pages for detail.

Other Changes

TRANS-4764 SF23479 DHL XML-PI. Addressed issue when shipping to Singapore. Shipments to Singapore now function as expected when operating with DHL XML-PI. Previously, no rates were returned causing the transaction to fail.
TRANS-4783 SF23578 Apps. Corrected Address Validation errors. When using address validation to correct an entered address, the updated value is now re-validated. Previously, it was not validated following the update.
TRANS-4784 - Tasks. Corrected Batch Tracking handling of location detail. An issue has been resolved whereby the Batch Tracking task failed when the location detail exceeded the allowed character length for saving in the database.
TRANS-4800 SF23805 Trans-Expedite. Resolved errors with EDI messages. An issue has been corrected whereby 204 EDI messages contained duplicate elements when operating with Trans-Expedite.
