About

Banyan is a carrier broker system that specializes in LTL carriers. It supports rating, returning rates against a number of carriers, and executing freight shipments. For detail, see the Banyan website.

Setup

Setup My System (onboarding wizard) is supported for this carrier. If onboarding manually, alongside the general guidance given in Set up a carrier, the key detail for this carrier is:

  • Requirements:
    • Banyan Account Number (provided by Banyan for each configured location)
    • Security Credentials Username and Password
  • Setup stages (Administration App):
    • Enable Banyan (Carriers page), and add Security Credentials (the Identifier field is your Security Credentials Username).
    • Add the Account.
    • Add Carrier Permissions.
    • Optionally, if shipping internationally, set up International Defaults.
    • Set up Outputs.

Banyan does not support the Track function, however, tracking is available via the View App's Tracking History tab.

Note there are additional settings supported for this carrier, configured in the All Settings page of the Administration App's Data tab:
  • Banyan Submit Pickup. Determines if a pickup request is submitted to a carrier. Defaults to True.
  • Banyan Dispatch Override. Determines if Banyan will attempt to force a shipment through to a carrier if their initial API request fails. Defaults to False.

It is recommended that both outputs are configured prior to operating with Banyan; the Bill of Lading (ID 17) is controlled by the carrier and not produced for all shipments.
